Actor, playwright, poet and soon published author, Darrick Johnson continues to use his creative talents as a means to educate and entertain and his classroom is on stage. His voice is one of hope and encouragement. The’s the artistic director of “By Any Means Edu-tainment” Artists who use their creative talents as a means to challenge and stimulate minds in hope of influencing and transforming lives in a way that educates and entertains.

 

 He has written, directed and starred “In the Name of Love” a poetic drama in its debut performance concluded with a surprise marriage proposal to former girlfriend / cast member Cameo who is now the other half of this husband and wife team “Same Goal Different View Love is Revolutionary.”  Both plays have been performed throughout Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area and the later received raved reviews in the 2012 DC Black theater festival at Howard university, in Washington, DC   

In 2007 Darrick began portraying Malcolm X in playwright Jeff Stetsons  fictionalized drama. The Meeting  which questions what would happen had Malcolm X and Martin L. King attempted to join forces In the fight for human right.

 In May of 2012, Darrick performed “A Tribute to Malcolm X” for annual birthday celebration at the Malcolm X, Betty Shabazz educational center in Harlem, New York

 June 2013 Darrick toured Greenville, SC and enjoyed 8 sold out performances of his one man show “Malcolm X” an American legend originally directed by Lamont Carey of Carey entertainment. The most recent performance was May 2015 honoring the birthday of the late great Malcolm X

 September 2012 made debut in first musical performance. A two week runs of “The Color Purple” Harmony Hall in Fort Washington, Maryland. Other acting credits include 1991appearance in rap video of “MC Brains” shot in downtown Washington, DC. 2004 began performing with the socially conscientious Ozziddi project followed by a 2005 appearance as an extra in the HBO drama “The Wire”

Darrick currently facilitates The Gathering of Men @The Greater Beulah Baptist church in Capital Heights, MD and serves as a volunteer mentor for Concerned Black Men of Prince Georges County.
